*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gouldsboro Lake’s water temperature changes substantially through the year because it is a relatively small, shallow lake in northeastern Pennsylvania. In winter surface temperatures commonly sit at or just above freezing (about 32°F / 0°C) and the lake can ice over. Early spring water often ranges from roughly 34–50°F (1–10°C) as snowmelt and cool weather continue. By late spring and early summer the surface warms into the 50s–60s°F (10–20°C) range, and during July and August typical daytime surface temperatures commonly reach the high 60s to mid-70s°F (20–24°C), occasionally climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s°F (25–27°C) in heat waves. Temperatures then decline through the fall back into the 40s–50s°F (5–15°C).
Swimming at Gouldsboro Lake is not provided with a lifeguarded, designated swimming beach and is generally discouraged by park managers for reasons of safety and resource protection. The absence of lifeguards, summertime boat and fishing activity, variable, sometimes cool water, and periodic water-quality considerations mean most visitors who enter the water do so at their own risk. In warm months some people do swim or wade where conditions permit, but it’s important to follow posted rules, watch for hazardous conditions, and be aware that official supervised swimming facilities are not maintained there.
