*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Brevoort Lake, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, experiences a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures are generally low, often around 32–55°F (0–13°C) as ice melts and the lake mixes. By summer (June–August) the sheltered bays and shallow nearshore areas commonly warm to roughly 65–75°F (18–24°C), though deeper parts of the lake remain cooler. Early fall (September) typically sees cooling to about 55–65°F (13–18°C), and by late fall into winter temperatures drop toward freezing; surface water and shallows fall below 45°F (7°C) and the lake freezes over at 32°F (0°C).
Swimming is permitted and commonly enjoyed during the warmer months at the lake’s beaches and in park areas because surface temperatures in summer are comfortable for most swimmers. However, the swimming season is relatively short and conditions can change quickly; cold water in spring and fall presents a real risk of cold-shock and hypothermia, and deep water stays chilly even in summer. Visitors should stick to designated swimming areas, be mindful of sudden temperature drops, and avoid prolonged immersion when water is below comfortable summer temperatures.
