** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Suffolk
Benacre Broad is a shallow coastal lagoon on the Suffolk coast whose water temperatures vary through the year. In winter the broad typically sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), rising in spring to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Summer temperatures are usually cooler than inland lakes, often reaching 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) on warm spells, before falling back to 8–12 °C (46–54 °F) in autumn. Because the broad is shallow and influenced by tides, weather and freshwater inputs, temperatures can change quickly and local conditions determine the exact figures.
Swimming is generally discouraged and in some areas effectively prohibited, mainly because Benacre Broad lies within a nature reserve with sensitive habitats and nesting birds, and because there are no formal safety measures or lifeguards. Water quality and underwater vegetation can also make bathing less safe than on nearby beaches. Visitors often enjoy the area for birdwatching, coastal walks and nearby attractions such as Southwold’s pier and shops, the RSPB reserves and the sandy beaches and dunes along this stretch of the Suffolk coast.
