** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Norfolk
Filby Broad, one of the small broads in Norfolk’s Broads system, has water temperatures that follow typical temperate inland patterns. In winter the surface usually falls to around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F), spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), summer commonly warms the shallow water to about 17–22 °C (63–72 °F) with occasional peaks into the low 20s °C (mid-70s °F) during heatwaves, and autumn cooling ranges from 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). Because the broad is relatively shallow and fringed with reedbeds, temperatures can change quickly with weather conditions and may be cooler beneath the surface.
There is no formal bathing provision at Filby Broad and swimming is generally discouraged rather than officially promoted. Reasons include its status as a wildlife-rich area, the presence of boats and underwater vegetation, variable water quality and the lack of lifeguards or safety infrastructure. Visitors often enjoy birdwatching, gentle boating and fishing instead. Nearby attractions include other Broads such as Ormesby and Rollesby, the Broads National Park landscape and local sites like Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and the coastal resorts a short drive away.
