Balastne Lake in Mykolaiv Oblast is a unique natural site formed at the location of a former quarry, which creates its picturesque landscape with steep banks and clear water. Due to its origin and geographical location in the southern steppe zone, the water in the lake warms up well during the summer. At the peak of the season, from June to August, the water temperature typically reaches a comfortable +22 to +25∘C and higher, making it an ideal place for prolonged and enjoyable swimming. The high air temperature in Mykolaiv Oblast contributes to the rapid warming of the water.
Balastne Lake is popular as a place for recreation and swimming. The reservoir is known for its crystalline clarity, which attracts many tourists. Along its shores, one can often find equipped or informal spots for relaxation, picnics, and sunbathing. Organized beaches may exist in certain areas, although there is no large-scale resort infrastructure here.
