Pokrov is located near the Bazavluk River, which flows through a steppe area of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast before joining the Kakhovka Reservoir. In the section near Pokrov, the river is rather calm and partially regulated by nearby reservoirs, which helps it retain warmth during the summer months. From late May through early September, the water temperature in the Bazavluk near Pokrov typically ranges from 23–28°C, depending on weather conditions.
