*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Khortytsia Island in Zaporizhzhia, as the largest river island on the Dnipro River, is surrounded by river waters that are influenced by the Dnipro HPP at this location. This means that the water temperature here is typical for large lowland rivers and reservoirs in Southern Ukraine. During the summer season, especially in July and August, the water near Khortytsia's banks warms up to a comfortable +22 to +25∘C, making it quite appealing for recreation. The speed of warming can be affected by the intensity of water releases from the dam.
Swimming opportunities on Khortytsia have traditionally been excellent, as the island features numerous sandy banks and equipped beaches situated in a relatively clean water area. While not all beaches are officially certified, the most popular spots, such as those near the Cossack Sich or in the southern part of the island, have always attracted visitors. However, due to the full-scale invasion and the constant threat of shelling from the nearby occupying forces, the safety of being on the open banks of the Dnipro, including Khortytsia, has significantly decreased.
In the context of martial law and the proximity to the front line (even though Khortytsia is technically in the deep rear), official recommendations regarding swimming may be cautious or restrictive. Tourists and locals primarily visit the island for excursions and walks rather than for mass swimming, taking into account the general situation and potential dangers.
