** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
In Nikopol, the Dnieper River and the adjacent Kakhovka Reservoir are subject to considerable environmental and hydrological stress. After the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, water levels in the reservoir have dropped sharply. This affects both the depth and thermal inertia of the water body — shallower water heats up faster in sun but also cools faster, and in many spots may be too shallow for safe swimming.
Before the emergency, in summer, large reservoirs like Kakhovka in that region often reach water temperatures that are comfortable for swimming (in many places 22-25°C or more) in shallow, sun-exposed bays. But because of the recent drop in water, exposed bottoms, rising pollution levels and sediment disturbance, water quality is a serious concern. There have been official statements that certain sections below the dam are heavily polluted, to the point where swimming is strongly discouraged or forbidden.
So in practice, while under normal, pre-crisis conditions, residents of Nikopol could find spots along the reservoir or river bank to swim during summer, now it looks much riskier. One would need to pick very safe locations, check water clarity and recent pollution warnings, avoid after heavy rains or areas near discharges, and be aware that water temperature may be variable and sometimes higher in shallow patches but not consistent overall.
