*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pirot is a city in southeastern Serbia, located on the banks of the Nišava River. The Nišava here is a sizable river, but due to its general speed, varying depth, and historical water quality concerns from urban and industrial runoff, swimming in the main river course is typically discouraged and is not officially designated as a safe bathing area. Any swimming activity is unregulated and undertaken at the risk of the individuals, although locals may occasionally use certain accessible and calmer river bends during the summer.
The water temperature of the Nišava near Pirot is influenced by its proximity to the mountainous regions. In the winter season, from approximately November to March, the temperature drops significantly low, typically ranging from 0∘C to 5∘C, with ice formation often occurring near the banks, making any water activity impossible. During the summer heat, particularly in July and August, the water temperature does rise, reaching a refreshing maximum range of about 18∘C to 22∘C. However, for safer and warmer swimming, many residents prefer nearby Zavojsko Lake, which offers officially recognized beaches.
