** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lom (Лом) sits on the right bank of the Danube in northwestern Bulgaria, and water temperatures in the area depend on whether you mean the main river or smaller oxbow lakes and ponds nearby. The Danube at Lom typically ranges from about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in mid-winter, rises to roughly 6–16 °C (43–61 °F) during spring, and reaches its warmest in summer at about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), occasionally higher in heat waves. Smaller, sheltered lakes or backwaters near Lom warm more quickly and in July–August often sit around 22–28 °C (72–82 °F), while autumn temperatures generally decline to about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Year-to-year weather, recent precipitation and local depth all influence these ranges.
Swimming in the Lom area is possible but not universally regulated. There are few formal, lifeguarded beaches directly at the town’s riverfront, so swimming in the Danube is often informal and carries risks from current, boat traffic and variable water quality. Calmer oxbow lakes and designated inland spots are more suitable for casual bathing when local authorities report acceptable water quality and safety; always obey signage, check recent water-quality information and avoid swimming near ports or industrial stretches of the river.
