*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Vratsa sits at the foot of the Vrachanski Balkan and is crossed by the small Leva River and several mountain streams and reservoirs. Water temperatures in these inland bodies are strongly seasonal and typically cooler than coastal waters. In winter the rivers and high-elevation pools hover near freezing, about 0–6 °C (32–43 °F). Spring sees gradual warming to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) as snowmelt feeds the streams. In summer calmer sections and lowland reservoirs can reach their warmest, commonly 14–25 °C (57–77 °F) in sheltered areas, while fast mountain streams often remain much cooler, around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F). Autumn brings a steady decline back toward single digits, roughly 7–15 °C (45–59 °F).
Swimming in Vratsa’s rivers and lakes is possible but generally informal and conditional. There are no large public beaches or routine lifeguard coverage on the Leva or most mountain pools, so bathing tends to be local and cautious. Cold temperatures, sudden currents, submerged rocks and variable water quality after heavy rain make many spots unsuitable for casual swimming, especially for children and inexperienced swimmers. Some reservoirs and calm lowland stretches are used for summer bathing when temperatures are highest and conditions are checked by locals, but anyone planning to swim should assess depth, flow and safety beforehand.
