** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Mezdra (Мездра) lies on the Iskar River in northern Bulgaria near reservoir sections and smaller local lakes. Water temperature there follows a typical temperate pattern: in winter surface temperatures commonly sit around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), spring warms to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), summer surface temperatures usually reach about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) with shallow bays occasionally hitting 27–28 °C (81–82 °F), and autumn cooling brings water back toward 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). These ranges vary with recent weather, water depth, river inflows and any dam releases, so local spots and sheltered coves can be noticeably warmer or cooler than open-water averages.
Swimming is practiced locally in the warmer months, but there are few formally supervised beaches or regulated swimming areas immediately at Mezdra, so swimming is often informal. Authorities may prohibit or discourage bathing when water quality, strong currents from river flows or reservoir operations, submerged hazards and lack of lifeguards present risks. In short, summer temperatures commonly allow comfortable bathing in many spots, but swimmers should heed local signage and municipal guidance because access, safety and water quality conditions can change.
