** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tutrakan (Bulgarian: Тутракан) is a small town on the right bank of the Danube in northeastern Bulgaria, with a number of riverfront and oxbow-lake areas used for recreation. Water temperatures in the nearby lake and shallow backwaters follow seasonal patterns: in winter surface temperatures commonly fall to around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F), spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F), and peak summer temperatures typically reach about 22–28 °C (72–82 °F), sometimes higher in very warm years in the shallowest bays. In autumn the lake usually cools to approximately 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). These figures are approximate and vary with depth, local weather, and flow from the Danube.
Swimming is generally possible during the warmer months at designated beaches and in calmer oxbow lakes, and local signage or seasonal supervision often indicates approved spots. Swimming in the main Danube channel is more hazardous because of currents and boat traffic, so authorities usually discourage or restrict it there; by contrast the shallow lake arms are popular for bathing because they warm up faster and have weaker currents. Visitors should follow posted rules, use lifeguarded areas when available, and avoid swimming after heavy rains or when water quality advisories are in effect.
