*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Targovishte (Търговище) lies inland in northeastern Bulgaria, where rivers, small lakes and reservoirs follow a continental pattern of seasonal temperature change. In winter surface water in these bodies commonly falls to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and can freeze in shallow spots. Spring sees a steady rise, with typical river temperatures of roughly 4–15 °C (39–59 °F) and slightly warmer, shallow lakes reaching into the mid-teens Celsius. During summer the warmest conditions occur: many ponds and reservoirs warm to about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), while flowing rivers tend to be cooler, roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) depending on depth, shade and flow. Autumn brings cooling back toward 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) until winter conditions return.
Swimming in and around Targovishte is possible mainly in the warmer months when surface temperatures are comfortable, but it is often informal rather than organized. Some reservoirs and ponds are used for recreational swimming, yet others are off-limits because they serve as water supply, have poor water quality, strong currents, submerged hazards or simply lack official beaches and lifeguards. Local signage and municipal rules determine whether a specific site permits swimming; visitors should check conditions, water quality reports and safety provisions before entering.
