*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Bucharest (in Romanian – București) in the Bucharest-Ilfov region is surrounded by a number of small lakes and reservoirs whose surface water temperatures vary considerably through the year. In spring (March–May) lake temperatures typically rise from around 6–16 °C (43–61 °F) as the water gradually warms; in summer (June–August) surface temperatures commonly range between about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F), sometimes reaching the upper 20s °C (low 80s °F) during heat waves. Autumn (September–November) sees cooling back to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), and in winter (December–February) lakes often fall to near freezing, about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with occasional ice cover during cold spells. These values are approximate and depend on lake depth, local weather and sunlight.
Swimming opportunities in and around Bucharest are mixed and often restricted. Many urban lakes are not designated bathing areas, and swimming is discouraged or officially prohibited because of water quality concerns, boat traffic, submerged hazards and lack of lifeguards. At the same time, some controlled or private sites and managed recreational areas outside the city operate monitored swimming zones or leisure beaches where water quality is tested and safety measures are in place; in those cases bathing is allowed under the organizers’ rules. Always follow local signage and municipal regulations before entering any lake.
