*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ruse (Русе) lies on the right bank of the Danube in northeastern Bulgaria, and water temperatures in nearby lakes and river arms vary seasonally. In winter surface temperatures typically hover around 0–5 °C (32–41 °F) and may approach freezing in cold years. Spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 6–15 °C (43–59 °F) as the weather warms. In summer, shallow lakes and sheltered oxbow waters commonly reach 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), with small, shallow basins occasionally climbing to 24–28 °C (75–82 °F) during hot spells. Autumn cooling brings temperatures back down to about 10–17 °C (50–63 °F) before winter sets in.
Swimming is permitted in some lakes and designated bathing areas around Ruse, but opportunities depend on safety and water quality. The main Danube channel is generally not recommended for casual swimming because of strong currents, commercial traffic and variable depths; authorities often restrict access for safety. Small lakes and backwaters can be suitable for swimming when local monitoring reports acceptable water quality and lifeguard coverage or clear local guidance is present. Visitors should check current advisories, since pollution from agricultural runoff or occasional sewage incidents can affect suitability even in warm months.
