Alexandria (Romanian: Alexandria) is a town in the South-Muntenia plain whose nearby lakes and ponds are typical of lowland southern Romania. Seasonal water temperatures in these shallow, slow-moving bodies of water commonly range from about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) in spring to roughly 20–28 °C (68–82 °F) in summer, with occasional peaks near 30 °C (86 °F) during heat waves. In autumn surface temperatures usually fall to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), while winter values often hover around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) and can drop below freezing where ice forms.
