*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Širvinta River in Lithuania flows through a largely rural landscape and deep, wooded valleys that moderate its water temperature. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from about 0–3 °C (32–37 °F) in winter when ice and near‑freezing conditions are common, to roughly 3–12 °C (37–54 °F) in spring as snowmelt cools the flow. In summer the river is warmest, with typical values around 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in calmer stretches exposed to sun, while autumn sees a gradual decline to approximately 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Local variations occur because shaded gorges, groundwater inflows and rapids create cooler pockets even in summer.
Swimming in the Širvinta is possible in many calmer sections and is a common recreational activity during the warm months, though there are no widespread official bathing facilities or lifeguards along most of the river. Access is generally allowed, but users should be aware of natural hazards: currents, sudden depth changes, submerged rocks and colder temperatures outside midsummer. In winter formal ice swimming is only advisable at designated and supervised sites; otherwise ice and near‑zero water make the river unsafe. Water quality is variable and can be affected by runoff, so local conditions and signage should be checked before entering.
