Swimming in such conditions is possible, but for most people, the time spent in the water should be limited to avoid hypothermia. Even experienced swimmers may feel discomfort if they stay in the water for too long. To improve comfort and safety, a wetsuit can be used. It is important to note that these swimming tips and recommendations apply only in good weather. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Neris River, flowing through central Lithuania and the capital Vilnius, experiences marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In winter the river is close to freezing, typically around 0–2 °C (32–35.6 °F), and may be partially or fully ice-covered. Spring brings gradual warming to roughly 2–10 °C (35.6–50 °F) as snowmelt and runoff increase. Early summer temperatures commonly reach 12–18 °C (53.6–64.4 °F), while peak summer months can warm surface waters to about 18–24 °C (64.4–75.2 °F) in sheltered or shallow stretches during heat waves. In autumn the river cools again to approximately 6–14 °C (42.8–57.2 °F).
Swimming in the Neris is possible and frequently enjoyed in summer, but it is not uniformly “allowed” or recommended along the whole course. Local municipalities may designate safe swimming spots with supervision, while other sections are discouraged because of variable water quality, boat traffic, strong currents, hidden debris and sudden depth changes. Water quality can fluctuate after heavy rain or due to urban runoff, so official testing results and on-site signage are the best guides. For safety and health reasons check local advisories and choose designated areas with lifeguards when planning to swim.
