The Sava Dolinka is a mountain river in the northwestern part of Slovenia, flowing from the Julian Alps through the scenic region of Kranjska Gora. Because of its alpine origin, the water temperature remains relatively cold even in the warmest summer months, usually staying between 10°C and 16°C. This makes swimming more of a refreshing adventure than a leisurely activity, attracting mainly those who enjoy the invigorating effect of cold water.
Despite the chill, some spots along the river are used for bathing, especially in the wider and calmer stretches. The crystal-clear water and surrounding alpine scenery create a special atmosphere, and locals sometimes take quick dips during hot days. However, the river is more popular for kayaking, rafting, and fishing than for regular swimming, since the current can be strong and the water temperature is rarely suitable for long stays in the water.
