** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Saja (commonly known in Spanish as Río Saja) is a mountain-fed river in Cantabria whose water temperature varies noticeably with season, altitude and flow. Typical winter temperatures in higher and faster sections range from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring—with snowmelt and variable weather—sees averages around 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In summer, lower and slower stretches warm most, commonly registering 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) and occasionally reaching about 24 °C (75 °F) in sheltered pools on hot days. Autumn brings cooling waters in the range of roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Local conditions such as depth, shade, recent rainfall and tributary input mean temperatures can change over short distances.
Swimming in the Río Saja is generally possible and people often bathe in calmer pools and designated spots during the warmer months, but there is no universal permission or guarantee of safety across the whole river. Restrictions may apply in reservoirs, protected areas or where signage prohibits entry; furthermore, strong currents, sudden rises in flow, cold-water shock in colder seasons and occasional water-quality issues after heavy rain make caution essential. Summer offers the most comfortable temperatures and lowest flows for swimming, but visitors should follow local signs, respect conservation rules and assess conditions before entering the water.
