** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Río Bernesga, in Castile and León, shows noticeable seasonal variation in water temperature because it runs from mountain-fed sources through the province of León. Typical winter temperatures range roughly 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), spring values often climb to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), summer surface temperatures can reach approximately 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) in the warmest months, and autumn usually cools back to near 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Local conditions, recent rainfall or drought, and shading by vegetation can shift these averages; deeper or faster-flowing sections stay colder than shallow, slow pools.
Swimming in the Río Bernesga is possible in some rural or upstream stretches, particularly during warm summer days when temperatures make immersion tolerable, but it is not universally recommended along the whole course. Within and near the city of León water quality, currents, submerged hazards and local regulations can limit safe bathing, and occasional pollution events or management rules may prohibit swimming in certain reaches. For safety and legal reasons it is best to follow posted signs and local authority guidance before entering the river, and to avoid swimming after heavy rains or in fast-flowing sections.
