** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Sil, a major tributary of the Miño flowing through Galicia’s Ribeira Sacra, has water temperatures that vary noticeably with the seasons. In winter the river’s surface commonly sits around 5–10 °C (41–50 °F), rising in spring to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). During summer the warmest stretches and reservoirs can reach about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), while autumn temperatures generally fall back to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Local factors such as depth, flow rate, shading by cliffs and vegetation, and reservoir stratification influence these figures, so temperatures can differ significantly between narrow canyons and wider impoundments.
Swimming in the Río Sil is permitted in many calm stretches and designated bathing spots, especially in summer when temperatures are most comfortable. However, access is limited or discouraged in areas near dams, strong currents, steep banks or where water quality is poor; some sections lie within protected landscapes with specific rules. For safety and health reasons visitors should follow local signage, heed municipal regulations and check recent water-quality or bathing advisories before entering the river, as conditions can change with rainfall, season and upstream activities.
