** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Río Carrión, in Castile and León, is a mountain-fed river whose temperatures reflect altitude, season and flow. In winter the water is typically very cold, often between about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) in most reaches; spring sees a rise as snowmelt increases flow, roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). During the warmest months some slower, shallower pools in lower stretches can warm to around 14–22 °C (57–72 °F), though many upper and faster sections remain cooler, often under 15 °C (59 °F). Autumn temperatures decline again to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F), with short-term variability after heavy rain or heat spells.
Swimming in the Río Carrión is possible in calmer, accessible pools and some designated bathing spots, but it is not uniformly recommended everywhere. Because the river is mountain-fed, cold temperatures even in summer can present a hypothermia risk, and flow can change rapidly after rain or snowmelt, creating strong currents and submerged hazards. Water quality varies by location and may be subject to local restrictions or environmental protections, so swimming is generally allowed where explicitly permitted and safe, but visitors should check local signage, water conditions and municipal rules before entering.
