** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
León province in Castile and León contains a mix of mountain lakes and man-made reservoirs whose water temperatures vary with elevation and season. In winter the surface of many higher-elevation lakes and reservoirs commonly ranges from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), while lower reservoirs may be a bit warmer. In spring and autumn temperatures typically climb into the 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) band as snowmelt and air warming influence the water. Peak summer surface temperatures at the warmest low-elevation sites can reach roughly 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), and occasionally 25–26 °C (77–79 °F) in sheltered, shallow embalses, but true alpine and deep reservoirs often remain cooler, frequently under 15 °C (59 °F) even in midsummer.
Swimming is commonly possible in many of León’s reservoirs and natural lakes, and visitors swim there primarily in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable. However, access and legality vary: some embalses are subject to restrictions because they serve as drinking-water catchments, others limit bathing for safety reasons such as steep drop-offs, boat traffic, strong currents, or poor water quality after heavy rains. Cold-water shock is a real risk in mountain lakes even on warm days, so local signage and municipal rules should be checked before entering the water.
