Lake Vesijako, located in Päijät-Häme, Finland, is a unique lake known for being a watershed divide where water flows toward both the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia. Surrounded by forests and rolling hills, the lake is relatively clear and moderately deep, with calm water that warms steadily through the summer months. After the ice melts in late April or early May, the surface temperature is around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F). In early summer, it rises to about 13–16 °C (55–61 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the lake typically reaches 18–21 °C (64–70 °F). On sunny, calm days, sheltered shores can briefly exceed 22 °C (72 °F). By late September, the temperature drops below 10 °C (50 °F), and Vesijako freezes again by November.
Swimming in Lake Vesijako is allowed and popular, especially during the warmest part of summer. The water is clean and suitable for bathing, and several small beaches and cottages provide easy access to the shore.
