*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ilmoilanselkä, a distinct open water area within the Vanajavesi lake system in Kanta-Häme, is a regionally significant site for water activities. Swimming is widely permitted along the non-private shores throughout the open-water season, secured by the Finnish legal tradition of Everyman’s Rights. This grants the public the right to access and use waterways for recreation, provided the beautiful natural environment is preserved and a respectful distance from private dwellings is maintained. The lake offers safe and enjoyable swimming, supported by the generally good water quality found in this region.
The water temperature of Ilmoilanselkä is typical for lakes in Southern Finland, characterized by distinct seasonal variations. The lake generally freezes over from December to April, during which time the water temperature beneath the ice mass stabilizes between a cold 0∘C and 4∘C. The most comfortable swimming period is brief, occurring in July and early August. During this summer peak, the surface layer typically warms to a pleasant range of 18∘C to 22∘C. Outside of this narrow summer window, the water is cool, mainly suitable for those dedicated to cold-water dipping or quick, refreshing plunges.
