*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Vanajavesi, located in the Kanta-Häme region of southern Finland, is one of the most significant lakes in the Kokemäenjoki water system. It stretches through several municipalities, including Hämeenlinna, offering scenic views and many recreational opportunities. The lake’s moderate depth means its water temperature changes steadily with the seasons. In spring, after the ice melts, the surface temperature is around 5–8 °C (41–46 °F). By early summer, it rises to 15–18 °C (59–64 °F), and in July, the warmest month, the water typically reaches 19–22 °C (66–72 °F). During hot spells, shallow bays may momentarily warm to 23–24 °C (73–75 °F). In autumn, the temperature drops below 10 °C (50 °F), and the lake usually freezes by late November or early December.
Swimming in Lake Vanajavesi is allowed and highly popular throughout the summer. The water quality is generally good, and Hämeenlinna offers several maintained public beaches, such as Aulanko and Ahvenisto. The pleasant midsummer temperatures make swimming comfortable for both families and open-water enthusiasts. The lake’s calm bays and wide open areas provide safe, scenic conditions for swimming, boating, and other leisure activities, making Vanajavesi an important part of the region’s natural and cultural identity.
