** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ten Mile Lake in Minnesota typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to midwestern glacial lakes. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures often rise from roughly the low 40s to the upper 50s °F (about 5–15 °C) as ice melts and the water mixes. By early summer (June) the surface usually reaches the 60s °F (about 16–20 °C), and peak summer (July–August) surface temperatures commonly range from the low 70s to mid- to upper 70s °F (around 21–26 °C), though shallow bays can be warmer and deeper basins cooler. In fall the water cools back into the 40s–50s °F (5–15 °C) and lakes often sit near freezing (32 °F / 0 °C) under ice in winter.
Swimming is generally allowed where public access, beaches or private docks provide entry, and many people find late June through August most comfortable because of warmer surface temperatures. Water clarity and depth affect how warm any given spot feels, and swimmers should heed local beach advisories or posted warnings for bacteria or algal blooms when they occur. Winter swimming is restricted by ice conditions and is unsafe without proper equipment and experience; organized ice swimming is a specialized activity rather than a regular recreational option.
