** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Spicer Meadow Reservoir is a high‑country impoundment, so its water temperatures tend to be much cooler than lowland lakes. During spring and early summer, when snowmelt feeds the reservoir, surface temperatures commonly sit between about 36–55°F (2–13°C). In midsummer, on warm, calm days the surface can warm to roughly 55–68°F (13–20°C), though deeper water remains considerably colder. By fall the surface usually cools back into the 45–60°F (7–15°C) range, and in winter the reservoir can approach freezing with surface temperatures near 32–40°F (0–4°C) and occasional ice or very cold conditions depending on the year.
Swimming at Spicer Meadow Reservoir is generally possible as a recreational activity, but it is often limited in practice by safety and operational factors. Because it is a managed reservoir fed by snowmelt, water is frequently cold even in summer, creating a hypothermia risk and sudden shock on entry; there are typically no lifeguards or formal swim facilities. Additionally, fluctuating water levels, submerged hazards and boat traffic can make some areas unsuitable for swimming. Local regulations or seasonal restrictions may apply, so visitors should heed posted signs and exercise caution if they choose to enter the water.
