*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pardee Reservoir, a foothill impoundment in California’s Mokelumne River watershed, experiences noticeable seasonal swings in surface water temperature. In summer, surface temperatures commonly range from the mid-60s to mid-70s °F (about 18–24 °C) and can warm into the upper 70s °F (around 25 °C) on hot, shallow bays. Spring and fall bring cooler surface readings typically between the low 50s and low 60s °F (10–16 °C), while winter surface temperatures often fall to the mid-40s to mid-50s °F (7–13 °C). As with many reservoirs, deeper water remains substantially colder year-round because of thermal stratification, so temperature can drop sharply with depth even when the surface feels moderate.
Swimming is generally not permitted at Pardee Reservoir because it is managed in part for municipal water supply and to protect water quality. Restrictions on direct-contact recreation help reduce contamination risks and make monitoring and treatment more reliable for downstream users. Safety and rescue considerations also factor into the policy: colder deep water, sudden drop-offs, and boat traffic increase hazards. Recreational activities such as boating and fishing are available in designated areas, but those planning any water contact should check current management rules and heed posted prohibitions to protect health and safety.
