*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
South Lindstrom Lake, located in the Lindstrom area of east‑central Minnesota, follows the seasonal temperature patterns typical of small lakes in the region. In late spring water temperatures often range from about 40–60°F (4–16°C) as ice melts and the lake mixes. Peak summer surface temperatures commonly reach roughly 65–80°F (18–27°C) on warm July and August days; shallower areas and protected bays can be at the upper end of that range while deeper spots remain cooler. By early fall the surface cools back into the 45–60°F (7–16°C) band as air temperatures drop, and in winter the lake will usually freeze or sit at near‑freezing temperatures around 32°F (0°C) beneath any ice cover.
Swimming is generally possible at South Lindstrom Lake where shoreline owners or public access points permit it, and many local residents swim there in summer when surface temperatures are most comfortable. Whether swimming is allowed at a specific spot depends on ownership, posted rules, and water quality; blue‑green algae blooms, high bacteria counts, or private property restrictions can make swimming inadvisable even in warm weather. In winter, swimming is not recommended unless doing supervised ice swimming with appropriate safety measures. Always check local advisories and conditions before entering the water.
