Swimming in such conditions is perfect for those seeking relaxation and comfort in the water. These waters are often preferred for relaxation in hot weather, as the water temperature does not cool the body significantly. *** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de San Juan, a reservoir near Madrid, experiences a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In winter the surface typically cools to around 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). Summer is when the reservoir is warmest, with surface temperatures commonly reaching 20–27 °C (68–81 °F) and occasionally higher during heat waves; shallow bays warm faster than deeper areas where temperatures remain lower. In autumn the water cools again, often ranging from about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F). These values vary with weather, wind, inflows and the depth of the bathing spot, so observed temperatures at popular beaches can differ from measurements taken in deeper channels.
Swimming at Embalse de San Juan is generally allowed and the reservoir is a well-known local spot for bathing, especially in designated beaches where authorities monitor water quality and provide seasonal lifeguards. Restrictions or temporary bans can be imposed if tests show contamination, algal blooms, or poor visibility, and some areas are limited because of boating and water sports. Visitors should choose official swimming zones, heed posted warnings and be mindful of sudden depth changes and boat traffic even when bathing is permitted.
