** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Embalse de Riosequillo, like many reservoirs in the central Spanish highlands, shows marked seasonal variation in surface temperature. In spring the water typically ranges from about 8–16 °C (46–61 °F) as warming begins, while summer surface temperatures commonly reach 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) and can climb higher in shallow, sun‑exposed bays or during heat waves (occasionally up to around 28 °C / 82 °F). Autumn brings cooling to roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), and winter surface readings usually sit near 4–10 °C (39–50 °F), with deeper layers remaining colder year‑round. Actual temperature at any spot depends on depth, inflow, wind and recent weather, so conditions can change quickly and thermal stratification may create much colder water below the surface.
Swimming at Riosequillo is generally restricted or discouraged, as is the case for many managed reservoirs, primarily for reasons of water quality protection, water supply management and safety. Sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles, strong currents near inlets or outlets and the absence of lifeguards make unsupervised bathing hazardous. Local authorities may post specific rules or seasonal prohibitions, so visitors should look for signage and confirm current regulations before entering the water; where permitted, exercise caution and be aware that surface warmth does not guarantee safe conditions below.
