*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The reservoir known locally as Embalse del Burguillo, in Castile and León, shows marked seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter months temperatures often sit between about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring brings a gradual rise to roughly 8–16 °C (46–61 °F). Peak summer conditions typically produce the warmest surface readings, commonly in the range of 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) though occasional heat waves can push values higher. Autumn temperatures decline again to about 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) as the water cools. These ranges reflect shallow bays warming faster than deeper channels, and daily values can change with air temperature, wind and inflow from tributaries.
Swimming at El Burguillo is a common summertime activity and is generally allowed in accessible bays and designated bathing spots because the reservoir is managed for multiple recreational uses and normally meets local water-quality standards for bathing. Restrictions apply near infrastructure such as the dam, in crowded boating corridors, or when authorities post warnings for algal growth or poor conditions. Visitors should heed signage, respect any official closures, and be aware that even in summer sudden drops in temperature and deep water can pose risks; lifejackets, supervision of children, and caution around boats are advisable.
