*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ramsey Lake in Minnesota follows the familiar seasonal pattern of lakes in the region. In spring the surface water is cold, commonly in the mid-30s to mid-50s °F (about 2–13 °C) as snowmelt and cool air temperatures keep the lake chilled. By early summer surface temperatures typically rise into the 60s °F (around 16–21 °C), and peak in July and August when mid‑summer surface readings are often in the 70s to low 80s °F (about 21–28 °C) on warm, calm days. As autumn arrives the water cools again into the 50s and 40s °F (10–4 °C) before freezing; winter conditions bring ice cover and surface temperatures at or near the freezing point, about 32 °F (0 °C).
Swimming at Ramsey Lake is possible where public access points or informal shorelines allow it, and many people swim in summer when surface temperatures are comfortable. Whether swimming is formally allowed can depend on local rules, posted signs, and periodic advisories; authorities may restrict swimming because of water‑quality issues such as algal blooms, high bacteria counts, excessive vegetation, or for safety reasons like lack of lifeguards or hazardous conditions. In winter, ice safety concerns make swimming inappropriate except for organized, supervised ice‑swim events with proper precautions.
