Pocomoonshine Lake follows a seasonal temperature pattern typical of lakes in central Maine. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures are cold, often in the range of about 40–55°F (4–13°C) as the lake mixes and warms. By summer (June–August) surface water commonly reaches roughly 65–75°F (18–24°C) on warm days, though shallow bays warm more quickly and deeper waters remain much cooler. In early fall (September–October) the surface cools back toward roughly 50–60°F (10–16°C) before the lake begins to freeze; in winter the surface is at or below freezing under ice, near 32°F (0°C). Thermal stratification can produce markedly colder temperatures below the thermocline, so measured temperatures depend on depth and exposure.
