*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Pateira de Fermentelos (Portuguese: Pateira de Fermentelos) is a large shallow freshwater lake in the Aveiro District whose water temperature varies noticeably through the year. Typical seasonal ranges are roughly 8–13 °C (46–55 °F) in winter, 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) in spring, 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) in summer, and 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) in autumn. Because the lake is relatively shallow and sheltered, it tends to warm more in summer and cool quickly in winter; localized conditions such as water depth, inflows, and weather can produce variations from these averages.
Swimming at Pateira de Fermentelos is generally possible and the lake is used recreationally for bathing, boating and fishing, but it is not always managed as a formal supervised public beach. Local authorities may advise against swimming at times due to water quality issues (algal growth, nutrient runoff from surrounding agriculture) or to ensure safety around boats and dense aquatic vegetation. There are also stretches that are safer for bathing than the reed-fringed shallows. Visitors should check current signage and water-quality advisories, choose areas with clearer water and easier access, and be prepared for the absence of lifeguards.
