Location & Local Information
Lake Soshychne, located in the Volyn region of northwestern Ukraine, is a peaceful and rather shallow lake surrounded by wetlands and pine forests. Because of its natural shallowness, the water warms up early in the season — already by late May it usually reaches around 18–20°C. In the middle of summer, especially in calm, sunny weather, the temperature often rises to 23–25°C, and sometimes even higher near the shore. This makes the lake a comfortable spot for swimming and relaxation throughout June, July, and August. By early autumn, however, the water cools down quickly, dropping below 15°C as the nights become colder.
Swimming in Lake Soshychne is pleasant for those who enjoy quiet natural places without crowds. The lake’s water is relatively clear, though in the heat of summer it may become slightly greenish due to natural vegetation. The bottom is mostly sandy or slightly muddy, and the gradual entry into the water is convenient for bathers. There are no strong currents or sudden depth changes, so the lake feels safe even for children and less experienced swimmers.
