*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Old Town Lake, an oxbow lake located near West Memphis in the Arkansas Delta region, experiences water temperatures consistent with the area’s humid subtropical climate. As a shallow, slow-moving body of water, its temperature readily follows air temperature. In the cool winter months, the surface water temperature ranges from the 40s to low 50s F (4∘C to 13∘C). During the long, peak summer season, the lake warms significantly, with surface temperatures often reaching a very comfortable and warm range, peaking between 75∘F and 85∘F (24∘C to 29∘C).
Swimming in Old Town Lake is generally discouraged and not supported by public facilities. While the lake is primarily used for fishing and boating access, it does not feature any designated or supervised public swimming beaches with lifeguards. Therefore, any swimming is undertaken strictly at one's own risk. Due to its oxbow nature, which means it was formerly a meander of the Mississippi River, the lake is subject to fluctuating water levels and potential water quality issues from agricultural runoff. Swimmers should be mindful of boat traffic, submerged hazards, and the lack of official monitoring for safe swimming.
