Molesey Reservoirs sit on the Thames floodplain in Surrey and have water temperatures that vary with the seasons and weather. Swimming in the reservoirs is generally not permitted because they form part of a working water supply and present safety risks such as cold‑water shock, underwater hazards and restricted access for maintenance.
