*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Serpentine in Hyde Park typically shows a wide range of water temperatures through the year. In winter the lake often sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), spring gradually warms to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F), summer can bring surface temperatures up to about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), and autumn usually cools back to approximately 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). These figures vary with weather, depth and wind, so actual conditions on any given day may differ.
Swimming is permitted in the designated Serpentine Lido during the warmer months when lifeguards and seasonal facilities operate, and organised groups such as the Serpentine Swimming Club also run supervised swims throughout the year. Unsupervised bathing outside marked areas is discouraged because of boat traffic, variable water quality and safety concerns. The lake sits amid attractions including Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace, the Diana Memorial Fountain and Speaker’s Corner, making it a popular spot for both visitors and regular open-water swimmers.
