** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Virginia Water Lake is a shallow, landscaped lake in Windsor Great Park whose surface temperature varies through the year. In winter the water is typically around 4–7 °C (39–45 °F); spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). In the warmest weeks of summer the lake can reach around 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) at the surface, while autumn temperatures usually fall back to about 8–15 °C (46–59 °F). These figures are approximate and will change with weather, depth and local conditions, with colder temperatures below the surface.
Formal swimming opportunities at Virginia Water are limited: the lake is not designated or supervised for bathers, and local park managers and authorities generally discourage or prohibit swimming because of cold water risks, variable water quality, submerged hazards and the absence of lifeguards. A few open-water swimmers occasionally enter at their own risk, but there are no marked public swimming facilities. Visitors more commonly enjoy lakeside walks, the ornamental Roman ruin and cascade, and the nearby Savill Garden and picnic areas within Windsor Great Park.
