*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Lancashire
Marton Mere is a shallow glacial lake in Lancashire whose surface water temperatures vary with the seasons. In winter the mere often falls to around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F), spring sees gradual warming to about 6–12 °C (43–54 °F), summer surface temperatures typically reach roughly 15–20 °C (59–68 °F), and autumn cools back to around 8–12 °C (46–54 °F). These are approximate ranges and will change with weather, depth and wind: the mere is shaded in places and can feel colder than open lakes. Water quality can also fluctuate after heavy rain.
Swimming in Marton Mere is generally not allowed or recommended. The site is managed primarily for wildlife and habitat conservation, and public bathing is discouraged for safety and ecological reasons; there are designated paths, hides and viewing areas instead. For open-water swimming or a seaside dip, visitors usually head to nearby Blackpool seafront and beaches, or to local lidos and pools; the reserve itself is better suited to walking, birdwatching and enjoying the surrounding green space such as Stanley Park and the Blackpool coast.
