Lough Ennell, situated near the town of Mullingar in County Westmeath, is a large, shallow, natural lake popular for recreation. Like most inland lakes in Ireland, its temperature is typically cold, but the shallow nature of the lough allows the surface water to warm up more than deeper bodies.
