*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Loch Dionard is a stunning, remote freshwater loch situated in the far north-west Scottish Highlands, an area known for its rugged and unspoiled wilderness. Due to its high latitude and location far from any major warming influences, the water is persistently cold, even during the warmer months. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from a very cold 4∘C to 7∘C (39∘F to 45∘F) in the winter, rising only slightly to peak at approximately 12∘C to 15∘C (54∘F to 59∘F) in late summer.
Wild swimming in Loch Dionard is permitted under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, as in other Scottish inland waters, but it should only be attempted by competent and experienced cold-water swimmers. The loch's remoteness means help would be difficult to summon in an emergency, and the risk of cold shock is high. Visitors to this isolated region can enjoy exceptional hiking and wildlife viewing in the surrounding mountains, and the loch's outflow leads to the River Dionard, a noted spot for salmon fishing, before reaching the coast near the beautiful Kyle of Durness.
