*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Llyn Brenig is a large reservoir located on the Denbigh Moors in North Wales, surrounded by rolling hills and open heathland. Sitting at an elevation of over 360 metres, the lake stays cool throughout the year due to its altitude and exposed setting. In winter, the water temperature often drops to around 3–5 °C (37–41 °F), while in spring it slowly climbs to about 8–10 °C (46–50 °F). During the summer, the surface may reach 14–16 °C (57–61 °F) on calm, sunny days, though the deeper areas remain noticeably colder. By autumn, the temperature falls again toward 9–11 °C (48–52 °F), maintaining the lake’s characteristically fresh and invigorating quality year-round.
Swimming in Llyn Brenig is officially permitted but regulated for safety reasons, as the water can be cold and conditions change quickly with the weather. Wetsuits are strongly recommended, especially outside midsummer. The lake is also widely used for sailing, kayaking, and trout fishing, and its clean water and peaceful surroundings make it popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Walking and cycling routes circle the reservoir, offering panoramic views across the moors. Nearby attractions include the Alwen Reservoir, the Clocaenog Forest, and the market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin, which provide a mix of history and natural beauty.
