*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Occhito (Lago di Occhito) is a man-made reservoir on the Fortore River at the border of Molise and Puglia, and its water temperature reflects seasonal weather, depth and inflow from upstream. In winter the surface often cools to roughly 4–8 °C (39–46 °F). Spring brings a steady rise, typically around 8–18 °C (46–64 °F) as sunnier days warm the shallows. Peak summer temperatures can reach about 20–26 °C (68–79 °F) in exposed areas, though deeper sections remain noticeably cooler. In autumn temperatures fall back into the 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) range as air temperatures drop. Local wind, recent rainfall and reservoir releases can produce short-term swings, and temperature can vary considerably between surface and deeper water.
Swimming opportunities at Lago di Occhito are influenced by safety, water quality and reservoir management rather than temperature alone. Because it is a working reservoir with variable levels, submerged obstacles and occasional currents from releases, parts of the shoreline may be marked or regulated and official swimming may be discouraged or restricted by local authorities. In some designated or informal areas people do swim in summer when temperatures are most comfortable, but visitors should heed signage, check municipal rules and water-quality notices, and be cautious of uneven depths and boat traffic.
