** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Nazik Gölü (Lake Nazik) in Bitlis sits in eastern Turkey’s highland region and tends to have cool water year-round because of its elevation and continental climate. Typical surface temperatures in winter commonly drop to around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), often close to freezing and sometimes with partial ice cover. In spring the water warms to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt and runoff continue to cool the lake. Peak summer temperatures are generally milder than lowland seas, ranging about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F) during the warmest months, and by autumn the surface usually falls back to approximately 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as nights grow colder.
Swimming is physically possible in the warmer months but is limited by the lake’s relatively low summer temperatures, lack of formal beach infrastructure, and local safety considerations. Many visitors and residents take swims in summer when the water reaches the mid-teens to low twenties Celsius, but there are typically no lifeguards, marked swimming areas, or widespread facilities, and sudden cold exposure and variable depths can pose risks. Additionally, certain parts of the lake shore may be subject to ecological protections or used for agriculture and fishing, so visitors should follow local guidance and exercise caution.
