Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Maumelle, located near Little Rock, Arkansas, is the primary source of drinking water for the region and is a deep, cold reservoir. Due to its intended use, its water temperatures are typically cooler than recreational lakes. In the cool winter months, the surface water temperature ranges from the 40s to low 50s F (4∘C to 13∘C). Even in the peak summer season (July and August), the surface layer remains cool and refreshing, generally peaking between 72∘F and 78∘F (22∘C to 26∘C). The deeper water remains consistently cold.
Swimming is strictly prohibited in Lake Maumelle. As the major source of unfiltered drinking water for the Central Arkansas Water system, direct body contact with the water is banned by regulation to protect the public water supply from contaminants and maintain water quality. This prohibition is strictly enforced. While the lake is popular for boating, fishing, and paddling, all activities must follow non-contact rules. For recreational swimming, visitors are directed to nearby authorized facilities, such as pools or state park lakes with designated swimming beaches.
